In
2006, we finally found the perfect spot for another césar, this time
at 4039 Piedmont Avenue in Oakland. It is a much larger space, about four
times the size of César Shattuck, including a much larger kitchen
in which chef maggie pond and her crew have been able to offer an expanded
seasonal menu selection. In addition to the same award-winning tapas we
have always offered, the menu at césar piedmont includes the charcuteria,
a selection of spanish ham and other cured meats and pates, most of which
is made on premises, and several big plates including pollo asada a
la costa brava, fideo negro (the singular pasta specialty
from catalunya), grilled hangar steak, and besugo a la bilbaina
(whole grilled tai snapper with guindilla peppers, garlic & sherry dressing).
César Piedmont features the same great selection of wines, spirits,
and aperitifs as our original location, as well as expertly made cocktails
from our crack team of bartenders. At piedmont, we have not one but two
large communal tables, a large outdoor patio in
front for al fresco dining, and the sala
redonda, our “round room” that can be reserved for
private parties, business meetings, or wine tastings.
